A parent’s worst nightmare became reality for the Morris family during a routine “well check” for their 4 year old son, Jacob. As the doctor listened to his heart, her concerns began to heighten. Within a short time, Jacob was diagnosed with life threatening heart conditions known as Ebstein’s Anomaly, Atrial Septal Defect and Mitral Valve Prolapse. After multiple tests and doctor appointments, the Morris family sought out help from the leading surgeon for this condition, Dr. Dearani, as the surgeries needed could not be done in Arizona. Jacob will undergo his first open heart surgery on July 24th, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. This will be one of many procedures that Jacob and his family will have to endure. As we learn about Jacob, our hearts break for what is to come for him and his family. Many of you are wondering how you can help. The medical bills and travel expenses for this procedure are becoming yet another painful burden for the Morris’. Although we cannot change the circumstances, there is a way we can help.
